I am pleased to announce that following the acquisition of lands at Ballynagee, Wexford Town, by Wexford County Council, the Department of Education, through the statement below, has confirmed that Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB) can now progress with designing a new school for Selskar College to be built on the site.
As Principal of Selskar College, I, with the support of WWETB, the Board of Management, Mr John Connolly, our Deputy Principal and the staff of Selskar College, look forward to working with you over the coming years as we prepare to continue living out our Core Values, Excellence in Education, Care, Equality, Community and Respect and our mission statement, “Teaching and learning with care and respect where every person matters” in state-of-the-art surroundings in a new school building on an expansive site.
Statement:
“The Department of Education can confirm that following engagement with Wexford County Council, agreement in principle has been reached, subject to the agreement of the Elected Members of Wexford County Council, to acquire approximately 12 acres of lands at Ballynagee, Wexford Town, for the development of the new school campus for Wexford Educate Together National School (RN 20333P) & Selskar College (RN 71680C). This site forms part of a total landholding is over 54 acres at Ballynagee, which recently became available to Wexford County Council to acquire. The Department would like to thank Wexford County Council for their assistance in securing this site for the Wexford school campus project. The purchase of the Ballynagee lands will allow Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board and their appointed design team progress with the design of the new school campus building project.”
