Welcome to the JCSP School Library at Selskar College.

The school believes passionately in the power of reading. As Dr. Seuss once said, a favourite author of our full-time Librarian, Ms Dickerson, The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go

The library at Selskar College is one of only 30 libraries in Ireland supporting JCSP (Junior Cycle School Programme) and the library is at the heart of the school benefiting all students from first to sixth year. Our students are expected to read on a regular basis and borrowing books is part of daily school life, with a book in the bag policy in place for all students.

This year our library looks a little different though the focus on reading is unchanged. We are delighted to announce that we now offer a full Digital Library Service for students and staff at Selskar College.

Virtual Library

The Sora link is to a digital lending library. Passwords are in student journals or contact Ms Dickerson.

The Koha link is to the library catalogue to search the 10,000+ books and resources available from the school library.

The Accelerated Reader link is to a reading software programme for all firstandsecondyear students to take quizzes on completion of their books. Reading targets are linked to Christmas and Summer exams.

The Library also organises a full calendar of events including author and storyteller visits, book talks, workshops linked to specific curriculum subjects such as archaeological workshops and Seachtain Na Gaeilge events, hosts external speakers, and creative writing, poetry and music classes to name but a few. Events will be online this year and we look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new visitors this year to enrich the student experience at Selskar College.
