The Junior Certificate School Programme is designed to ensure that young people can benefit from their time in school and enjoy the experience of improvement and success.

Students choose from the following subjects after a short period in which they can ‘taste’ particular subjects.

The choice available from year to year is dependent on student demand and staff availability.
At Wexford Vocational College, the JCSP ensures the students enjoy positive experiences of the Junior Certificate through a creative, broad-based curriculum.
All students are entered for the Junior Certificate Exam. The Co-ordinator Ms M. Prendergast, works with the Principal, Mr Weafer, Ms Ryan and a team of teachers to form the JCSP Framework. Through this framework, a team approach is adopted, and a creative curriculum is developed, involving Library time, gardening projects, bodhrán playing, “Make a Book” project, storytelling and dance, to name some of the extra- curricular activities which are fitted into the everyday life at the College.
In addition to reinforcing the general aims of the Junior Certificate, the JCSP addresses and prioritises the need to consolidate the basic skills of Literacy and Numeracy. These skills are further enhanced by activities in our J.C.S.P Library. Particular attention is also given to the Personal and Social Development of the student addressing issues such as life skills and self-esteem.
The Profile
Student progress is monitored through the student Profiling System. Achievement is acknowledged and rewarded throughout the three years. Parents are involved at every stage of the Programme through Information meetings, celebrations of students' work and JCSP Award Evenings.
The JCSP promotes teaching methods which are experiential, interactive, relevant and structured for students. Teachers are constantly devising strategies and initiatives to enhance the students learning experiences at the college.
